KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS VIDEO:

☑️#1: Remember that trees have a light side, shadow side and a half-tone side (actual color and value of the tree without sun washing it out, or shadows affecting it). It helps to think of your trees as 3-D objects and try to describe the various plane changes with changes in color and value.
Don't paint the tree, paint the light on the tree. Paint shapes and colors.
I mixed 3 different colors and values for the shadow side, and 3 different colors and values for the light side of the trees.

☑️2. Look for opportunities to create contrast in your tree paintings. When you and your viewers love your beautiful paintings, it will be in large part due to achieving contrast.
Use contrast of color, shape and texture in your trees.

You can also use contrast of complimentary colors to achieve an interesting tree painting. Red and green, violet and yellow/orange. In this painting I brought some of the mountain colors into the foreground, and vise versa to help achieve some harmony and interest.
