France refuses to reveal nuclear waste sites in Algeria

Six decades of radioactive aftermath: Back in the ’60s, France carried out 17 nuclear tests in Algeria’s part of the Sahara Desert, leaving a lasting impact on both locals and the environment. According to Algeria, it made no effort to clean up the sites or pay compensation to the victims who suffered from radiation fall-out.
