CHAPTER 017 - THE HILLS HAVE EYES

With the excitement over, the former slaves pick up the pieces and move on with their lives. Mabbi apologizes to everyone for what's happened, and she joins the group of travelers as they head southwards.

We are introduced to a First Man who was displaced by Lowen's flood. He's wild and free, and alone as he shadows the caravan.

The mysterious settlement of Fountain lies ahead, and Mabbi tells her new friends about the history her Pa had with the place. We learn of how he arrived in the area with his chain gang, and how he stirred up the local First People. Mabbi uses her family history with Fountain to secure a place to stay for the night.
