CHAPTER 014 - ALLEGIANCES

In this chapter we find out that perhaps not all is as it seems in the Jaze Clan. Though the gruff exterior of the crude jokes and from behind the protection of her dogs, Mabbi is simply a young woman who yearns to be free. We find out how she became the only woman member of the army of miscreants, and we see a budding conscience which can be potentialls be exploited by our travelers.

After collecting several packs full of iron and aluminum scrap, Lowen settles down in his shelter while he grinds both into powder. Curious to see it in action, he builds a crude scale, and after he tests out a handful of the stuff just to see if it works.

Paul is asleep in the mine, and after he ruminates over the minor differences in Keep to Mine life, Mabbi stops by to have a chat. He sees her budding conscience, and the wheels begin to turn in his head.

Mabbi goes to visit her Pa as he is laid up in the house, and she finds that he's not well, at all. He's clearly got severe brain damage from the beating at Paul's hands, and she grows disgusted with both Monument's past and future.
