China rebukes Japanese official calling Taiwan a 'country'

Japan's deputy defense minister said on Monday that it was necessary to "wake up" to Beijing's pressure on Taiwan and protect the island "as a democratic country." China's foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin is calling the comments a serious violation of it's diplomatic agreements with Tokyo.
