This is Debo's Dad's recipe for extracting quinine from grapefruit, and brewing a delicious and natural cold remedy similar to neocitron! No tonic water necessary! Chloroquine is the synthetic version of quinine! Youtube banned this totally innocent video because they are a bunch of commies.

The recipe:

One grapefruit
One orange
One lemon
Chop up and put in a pot big enough to cover all the fruit.
Add 1/4 cup of lemon juice
2 tablespoons of preferably freshly grated ginger, but powdered is fine too.
Boil about two hours, or until a spoon cuts through the orange rind really easily. (Make sure to keep topping up the water throughout if it boils down too quickly).
Once it’s done, strain the liquid then pour into a mug.
Add one to two tablespoons of honey depending on your tolerance for bitter.
Leftover liquid can be saved in the fridge for about three days.

Yammo here! We’ve been getting a lot of feedback to keep the lid closed to “keep the quinine in” or “not let the quinine gas out” or a statement to that effect. 1) make it however you like/prefer/you were taught - whatever floats your boat :) that said, 2) I haven’t seen any data that shows keeping the lid on helps or that quinine escapes form boiling. Given boiling point of water vs quinine, It’s more likely that only the water escapes which leaves the quinine behind - essentially an extraction process - and the quinine only gets more concentrated when you let the water evaporate by leaving the lid off, which is what you’d want to get a stronger concoction
