Butterfly metamorphosis is a biological fact that occurs during the growth of species of the order Lepidoptera, which also includes moths. During the immature form, they present themselves as caterpillars, mostly phytophagous. It is a fully developed insect, that is, it has the egg, caterpillar, pupa and adult stages. Moths can have stinging caterpillars, and many species have a cocoon protecting the pupa. In butterflies, the caterpillars are not stinging and do not form a cocoon, as the pupae are bare and suspended or succinct.
