A Gift to be Real

I caught news of Milo Yiannopoulos turning from his “gayness”. It seems he converted to Catholicism. I cheer Milo’s decision and affirm him in his sovereign choice! My path to Christ was similar to this experience. Milo’s story has provoked me to some honest sharing. While I support anyone’s efforts toward sexual wholeness, I could not sit idly by while this topic has come to the front.

Maybe Christians just expect this part of who I am to just disappear as I manifest as a mature son of God on the earth. It’s a gift to be real, though. I’m not disqualified for a thing! Think what you will about what sin is “mortified” and what’s not. Don’t mind if I get off that grind. That’s just religion and sanctimony! (“How am i doing Lord???” Oh, deliver us from that scale!). It’s time we all learned to boast in our weaknesses (2 Cor. 12:9) and face both the truth of our trauma as well as our identities as sons of God. This isn’t something you avoid, fake-it-till-we-make-it, or deny. It’s something to grapple with and face in the full-frontal splendor of our humanity. Watch me go straight through this stigma and not around it!

“Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” - 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV.
