To answer the question: "Why would they lie?" must be asked if you are to confront the reality of the situation - YOU ARE BEING LIED TO.

Let's look at the evidence. If this is contrary to what we're being told... why? Why is there conflict? Are we just wrong/mistaken or are the lies and misgivings intentional?
