Biden’s Trip Overseas is Officially a Trainwreck
As President Biden is wrapping up his first overseas trip as President of the United States, he is portraying himself and the United States as weak.
One of the outcomes from the summit has been to let China get a free pass for the leading theory that COVID-19 was leaked out of a lab in Wuhan, China. Following the G-7 summit, all of the world leaders issued a joint statement calling for a second World Health Organization (WHO) investigation into the origins of COVID-19. As we told you, the WHO has been taken over by China, so this will be another failed attempt to discover the origins of this virus. The weak statements coming out of this Administration regarding its stance on China have been prevalent and we expect to see this trend continue as President Biden travels to his next stops with NATO allies and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
While we have yet to see any joint press conferences, President Biden did hold a press conference on his own at the end of the first summit. The leader of the United States – President Biden – is expected to meet with the most powerful leaders around the world, but he can’t even stray away from the script developed by his staff during the press conference following the G-7 summit.
President Biden indicated he was going to operate strictly by “the book” and conduct the conference the way his staff wants him to. He told reporters point blank:
I’m sorry, I’m going to get in trouble with staff if I don’t do this the right way.
In no surprise, President Biden has already indicated that he will not hold a joint conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Instead, he would speak to the media on his own again after their meeting coming up on Wednesday.
Our own ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy and former Acting Director of National Intelligence, Ric Grenell summed it up best in his tweet:
Biden is afraid to hold a press conference with Putin. And Putin loves it.
ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett commented on Ric’s accurate tweet and the direction this Administration is heading when it comes to dealing with Putin:
Actions always speak louder than words. And this Administration's actions around the world are the definition of leading from behind. . . . Ric tweeted that Vladimir Putin is loving this new posture. I don’t think there is any doubt about that. In the interview [Putin] gave over the weekend, he was asked twice if he was a killer and he laughed it off. And it was very clear in watching that interview that he loves the insinuation. He loves the insinuation that he can be asked this without getting significant pushback from the one entity in the world that should have the moral footing to push back from him as the United States of America. Right now, he is not worried about that.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi also weighed in on the upcoming meeting between President Biden and Putin:
I think he’s going to meet a very different President than one who was at the mercy of Putin.
Nancy Pelosi is right that Putin will meet a very different President – a President that will not stand in the way of his global ambitions.
There is still more to come as the leaders around the world are deciding what to think of this new Administration. President Biden will meet with NATO allies and meet with Vladimir Putin in the days to come. After Russia’s targeted attacks took place in the U.S., tensions are high approaching the meeting with Putin. President Biden’s foreign policy decisions thus far might be the most dangerous aspect of this Administration.
