Black Monday June 7, 2021-Canadian Rights & Freedoms Decimated

June 7, 2021 is a day in Canada that may well live in infamy. Two horrific, unjust and logic defying events took place; one in Ottawa and the other in a court of law in Edmonton, Alberta (via WebEx video cast).

The government of Canada has introduced closure on debate for Bill C-10 meaning that the draconian, limiting of Free Speech in Canada is almost a foregone conclusion.

The consequences are yet unknown but the process will certainly, without fail, allow the government to eliminate discussion, debate and dialogue from those opposing the government's position on any number of issues. Truly authoritarian and dystopian.

The second horrific event occurred as Pastor James Coates was found guilty in an Alberta Court of Law - guilty of practicing his faith and allowing his congregants to do the same.

A cowardly Crown Prosecutor wished to remain anonymous throughout the entire proceeding however the resolve and hard work of journalists, specifically Sheila Gunn Reid and Ezra Levant of Rebel Media report that 'Karen Thorsrud' is the prosecutor too ashamed of her own actions to stand up publicly and speak with the courage of her convictions.

I believe the judge in the case is also worthy of note in that he may again be called upon by the Alberta Government to do its dirty work.

Judge Shiegec presided over this incredibly dystopian, totalitarian and Constitutionally defying verdict of guilt.

It is clear at this juncture that few in power are able and willing to stand up for the rights of individuals, citizens and the vulnerable who have been rendered powerless through these horrific injustices.

Instead of looking for heroes, perhaps it is time that all of us become heroes in our own rights.

For our own rights and freedoms.

I repeat. A day that will assuredly live in infamy in the once great Dominion of Canada.
