Santorini Oia Village, Greece

Oia Santorini: Oia, Pronounced 'Ia', Oia is situated on the north side of island of Santorini Greece, 11 km from Fira, and it is world known for its quiet life and fantastic sunset. It is obviously the most beautiful and picturesque village of Santorini, as it calmly hangs from the cliffs.
Oia offers you a different angle of view on the volcano (Palia & Nea Kameni) and on the small island of Thirasia.

Oia is also build in a very traditional way, with blue domed churches, sun-bathed verandas, and stepped streets. Many of the buildings are built into niches in the rock. There are also plenty of tourist shops, but on the whole this town is less commercial than Fira. In Oia, one can visit the Maritime Museum with its small library and exhibits from the marine life of the area, and the vestige of a Venetian fortress. There are also many galleries. 7 km further, one can have a look at the second volcanic crater which erupted for the last time in 1650.
