Starting a Bonsai Tree From a Small Lowes Shrub || Rhododendron

In this video I am just sitting down and playing with a shrub I got from Lowes. This is a Rhododendron and it has excellent shape for starting a simple bonsai tree. I think I picked up this shrub in one of the follow me around at lowes garden center vlogs some time ago and maybe it was in a plant haul also. The Rhododendrons and azaleas make excellent starter plants for outdoor container gardens, fairy gardens, bonsais and really anything miniature. I would not grow this as a houseplant though. Rhododendrons are difficult houseplants as they like good air flow, a seasonal chill, high humidity, and a shift between day and night temperatures. There are some varieties of Azalea that make decent houseplants, but this is not one of them. Though I struggle to call this a true bonsai tree, I will be pruning it and treating it as I would my other Bonsai trees in the future.
