Pocyclipse Sequel

It started back when they told people we all might get the covid cough. They advised us to wear a mask wherever we go. Even children weren’t exempt from the strict masking ordinances. Martial law was soon imposed.
They told us that bodies would pile up in the streets. They told us only the masks and the VAX injections would save humanity.
I had been prepping for some years. I had the whole setup- a bunker secure from nuclear, chemical and biological warfare. And enough MRE rations for three years.
With people all weak and demoralized from the long period of masking and martial law, they were easily hunted down for forced VAX injections. Special squads of soldiers roamed the neighborhoods, targeting the reluctant ones with their high powered rifles. These new weapons could deliver a dose of the VAX at long range, much as a wildlife researcher administering a tranquilizer to a high speed cheetah on the Serengeti. You know, like they used to show on TV. Of course they don’t air that kind of programming any more.
Resisters were placed on lists and systematically hunted down. I saw no option but to take refuge in my bunker and wait out the madness. They told us the VAX drugs were for our own good, but many suspected otherwise. Anyone who dared say so was placed on a list. And so it went.
I thought it best to go into hiding in my bunker before my name made it on to one of their lists. I remained there for a full three years. With no access to the internet, I kept busy with my home library of forty or so books. I never want to see any of those books ever again. Most were read and reread a number of times.
With my food supplies dwindling, I decided to emerge from my bunker. I nearly got high off the outside air after having breathed only recycled air for years on end. I wore sunglasses to protect my eyes from natural sunlight as it took days for me to adjust.
Nothing could have prepared me for the horrors I saw next. My eyes
adjusting to the natural daylight was a curse. Here is a glimpse of what the world had become…
