From a warn-torn country to fame and incredible victories, this is the story of Novak Djokovic. When the war started, in Ex-Bosnia and Herzigovina, in the 90's, Novak Djokovic became the top ranked 14-and-under player. He entered the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in 2003, when he was only 18 years old.
By 2006, he won his first ATP tournament, the Dutch Open Tennis. In 2008 he finally gets his first Grand Slam, the Australian Open. He becomes the first Serbian to win one of the 4 Grand Slam's. Novak is doing great but he's not at the maximum of his capacities.
n 2010, a Serbian doctor realized that the tennisman had a gluten and lactose intolerance. He completely changed his diet within 6 months.
That was the beginning of a new era for Djokovic. December 2010, he lead the Serbian team to win the Davis Cup. He started a 43-match winning streak. The 3rd largest streak in the Open era since 1968. He became the number 1 tennis player once he defeated Rafael Nadal in the US Open, in 2011. The next year he won the Australian Open. He battled Nadal in a 6-hour match.
Novak Djokovic is also devoted to his country. The Serbian Orthodox Christian Church awarded him the Order of St. Sava for demonstrating his love for the church and the Serbian people.
Regarding his love life, he's been with Jelena Ristic since 2005. They are married and have a child named Stefan.
