How we made a Chicken Run in our city side yard

Yes, my wife talked me into getting chickens. I was skeptical at first but they are surprisingly pleasant (unless you get a rooster). Kids are having fun and learning a lot too, like where the eggs come from or where that chicken in their favorite chicken curry comes from (I have been told not to use them for curries).

This setup will need a chicken coop (an enclosed roofed place for them to sleep and stay away from inclement weather) and a chicken run (for them to feed, drink and well… run). The build doesn’t have to be furniture grade and needs to be just strong enough so the local predators don’t get in. It can abut the house wall, or can be a separate structure. It doesn’t matter how its built, the principles of joinery and wire meshing remain the same. I show 2 joinery techniques which can be used to build both the coop and the run. (we got the coop from a curbside trash someone threw away).
