Acts - When and Why? - Part 16

The lesson on May 23, 2021 was part 16 of the "Acts - When and Why?" study. In this lesson, we reviewed the premise of why we pursed this study and why it is important to know when the epistles written by the Apostle Paul during the Acts period to determine their doctrinal context. Wayne established that if you through right division establish the context of the doctrine, then you can extend the lesson by providing other spiritual applications. If you do so prior to establishing the context, you then are creating a pre-text that leads you down the wrong path trying to apply to yourself the same blessing that the saints were receiving during the Acts period. E.g., Signs, wonders, and tongues. The main body of this lesson was finishing up why Hebrews was written by the Apostle Paul during the Acts period. Wayne explained how those that argue the passage in Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for-ever." is a statement that God never changes how He deals with us is the wrong interpretation. Wayne shows how in Hebrews 7:19 "For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God." is an example of how He changed the way he was dealing with Israel after the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. "1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. 4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. 7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. 9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines.
