Snake Bites Woman as She Trims Shrubs

Info from Licensor: I was trimming my bushes on a Saturday morning and was 4 ft. high on a 6 ft. ladder so I could trim the top. On my 4th or 5th pass across the top of the bush with the trimmers, I felt a sharp pain in the left side of my left hand. It caused me to hesitate and look down at the bush where I saw a large 4-5 ft. black snake materialize on the top of the bush. I also realized that the sharp pain I felt had been him biting me and he was getting ready to strike again. Having only a second to react, I instinctively stepped backward with my left foot...into thin air.
