ALVAREZ KELLY - 1966

28

In 1864, when the Civil War was at its decisive stage, a Mexican cattle trader from Texas, Alvarez Kelly, leads 2,000 heads to Richmond (Virginia), which will serve as food for the Union Army. Kelly does not care about the Americans, whether Confederates or Yankees, as they resent the war of separation from Texas from Mexico, but prefer to negotiate with the Union because they say that the Confederates' money is worthless. But when delivering the cattle, Kelly is tricked by a southern lady and is kidnapped by Colonel Rossiter, who commands enemy troops who are also in the region. Rossiter wants to steal cattle for the Confederates, but he and his men have no experience as cowboys. Then he presses Kelly to help him guide the stolen cattle through the Yankees' lines.
