Hate them or love them, squats have serious benefits. As Dr. Christopher Stepien, a sports therapist and chronic pain expert, told The Active Times, "Fifty squats a day will keep the doctor away — seriously," adding, "Daily squats will help you mentally and will even give you better yearly check-ups with your primary physician." But what exactly happens to your body when you do squats every single day?

Hate them or love them, squats have serious benefits. As Dr. Christopher Stepien, a sports therapist and chronic pain expert, told The Active Times, "Fifty squats a day will keep the doctor away — seriously," adding, "Daily squats will help you mentally and will even give you better yearly check-ups with your primary physician." But what exactly happens to your body when you do squats every single day?

Unsurprisingly, doing squats every day makes you a whole lot stronger and less prone to injury. "So many actions can stem from the movements of a squat, from picking up your toddler to loading boxes into the house after a delivery," Katrina Pilkington, an NASM-certified personal trainer who specializes in women and youth, explained to Women's Health. "If you work to perform squats on a regular basis, using form that is on-point, you're sure to avoid injuries, and build a strong foundation for functional movement."

Better still, by doing squats every day, you're strengthening your core and pretty much signing yourself up for rock hard abs (via Harvard Health Publishing). You're also likely to notice improved posture by default.
