I’ve fallen in love with this song and the really entire debut album by Pat Barrett, honestly. If you haven’t given it a listen, I highly recommend it! I’ve binged it and played it nonstop for several weeks and months (and it’s already a couple years old…he has a newer album out now). In my opinion, Build My Life is such a deeply resonating, well-crafted worship song. The heart cry of honest worship through the verses and chorus is readily apparent. It’s a vertical (us to God) expression, proclaiming Who He is and that He is worthy. But it’s the bridge (oh that bridge) that takes this song a step further. It's a response to everything else the song is saying. God, we want to build our lives upon Your truth. We want the foundation to be firm and unmovable. And in a world plagued by constant turmoil and stress, it is the foundation that holds us and grounds us. Every fleeting thing that comes and goes does not shake us. Our lives are built upon Him!
