Covid is not influenza as it has a different pattern of the disease and whom it infect badly. Influenza often kills children unlike covid, but flu doesn't have these so common cytokine storms, loss of smell or clotting. There is also a significant statistical difference in that covid usually starts with fever and then the respiratory problems, while influenza goes in the other way.
The few labs (one or two) testing SARS-CoV-2 samples as influenza can be explained by contamination in those labs. Some studies show that viruses wipe out each other, so in one sample a virus will quickly replace another virus.
