The Dead Sea is one of the most unique natural phenomena on the planet. It is a crack in the earth's crust that is part of the Great Rift Valley and that allows the waters of the Jordan River to flow south to a rare-shaped lake at the lowest point on our planet. Without escape, the rays of the burning sun evaporate the water of the Jordan to a point where its mineral content is highly concentrated, and it is this density of minerals and salt that makes it impossible for something to sink into the sea: bathers float effortlessly on the surface of the water. Because the sun has to travel another 1,200 feet to reach the shore, ultraviolet rays are filtered and oxygen is enriched to a point where even the lightest skins become tanned but not burned.
That's why a visit to the Dead Sea allows people with rheumatic diseases to breathe better, and that's also why victims of psoriasis and other serious skin diseases get temporary cures with baths in the Dead Sea, with the application in the dead sea mud body and with sun exposure that does not burn their skin.
