Melanie Kurdys is a member of the Leadership Team of United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE.org) and President of the Michigan USPIE chapter. She has been an education advocate for parents, kids & excellent teachers ever since starting as a volunteer in-school math tutor in 1993. Her experience in the public schools developed her understanding of the weak public policy surrounding education across the country. Starting in 2000, Melanie became a grassroots education activist, then was elected to Portage School Board in 2006. In 2013, Melanie and Deb DeBacker started Stop Common Core in Michigan. Melanie continues her well-known advocacy for excellence in education in Michigan and our country.

Kerry Bentivolio

Congressman (2013-2015)

Michigan's 11th District

Kerry Bentivolio is a former automotive designer and schoolteacher. He served with the US Army for 27 years as a combat veteran of both Vietnam (as an infantry rifleman 1970-71), and in Iraq in 2007 performing operations for a combat Convoy unit with the Michigan Army National Guard attached to the 82nd Airborne.

Kerry’s first elective office was serving with the 113th Congress, United States House of Representatives, representing Michigan’s 11th District from 2013-2015. He was the only member of Congress to have served in both Vietnam and Iraq.

A House of Representatives historian said Kerry Bentivolio was the "most effective and successful first term congressman in recent memory" (Ref: Oct 2013 Congressional Record). He passed 3 Bills with 100% bi-partisan support and maintained an overall conservative Republican Platform score of 93% as measured by 10 conservative watch dog groups in DC. It is worth noting that in the last fifty years of Congress only one first term member of Congress passed 3 pieces of legislation. On one of his Bills, the “Safe and Secure Federal Websites Act” Bentivolio obtained a record number of 126 co-sponsors for a first term GOP member of Congress. Bentivolio had a reputation of integrity among his colleagues in congress by following three simple principles:

Never lie
Never surprise
Never tarnish the office of Congressman.
Since leaving elective office Kerry Bentivolio volunteers his time supporting and working with a Hillsdale Charter School and a Home School Network, tending his one-acre vineyard, his Honey Bee apiary and a vegetable garden.

A lifelong resident of Wayne County, David Dudenhoefer spent his early childhood in Westland, (where he earned the nickname “Dude” due to the children being unable to pronounce his surname) and graduated Franklin High in Livonia. David has been a member of Detroit's working class since he’s old enough to work. He moved to Detroit as an adult and has lived in the city for the past twenty-five years. For decades he’s spent his days-off advocating for government accountability and local control. He’s spent years mobilizing his community around sound fiscal principals and individual rights. In addition to his grassroots community activism, David has served as district chair for the 13th Congressional District Republican Committee since 2013. He and his newly-wed wife Jacqueline, who were married in January 2019, live in the Boston-Edison historic district and work in the city of Detroit. They’re expecting their first child, Paloma Mia (My Dove), around election night in November. They’re proud of what the new and old Detroit has to offer from live music to local restaurants, urban gardening, Eastern Market, Belle Isle, and all the yearly festivals, and believe with the right leadership Detroit could be a safer place to live, work and raise a family.

A veteran of the Afghan War, Tom returned home and was inspired to run for public office in the Village of Sand Lake. As a Village Trustee and then Village President, Tom secured funding for infrastructure improvements that built better roads and provided quality drinking water, while also balancing the budget and protecting it from the local establishment swamp.

Returning from Afghanistan, Tom saw first-hand the lack of support and representation available to the veteran community. This inspired Tom to dedicate himself to helping his fellow veterans. He served as Post Commander of his American Legion where he brought stability and growth for the first time in ten years.

Tom then went on to Co-Found the West Michigan Veterans Ranch that focuses on suicide prevention and financial help for veterans, while working with them to find a new purpose in life.
