Megalodon was the largest shark species ever known and dominated the oceans for 21 million years, until it mysteriously disappeared. Considered a super predator, it could reach 18 meters in length, three times the size of the largest great white sharks today, and weigh more than 60 tons. And despite the large measures, he was still able to swim in excess. Its vertebrae and fossilized teeth were the initial vestiges of its existence.

A recent study revealed that the cause of its disappearance may have been the inability of its regular body temperature to face the cooling of the seas.
