One of our favorite foods is Mexican style salsa! We love going to Mexican restaurants. Last year in 2020 we could not go to our favorite places due to COVID-19. Here we make chips and salsa since that is what Bryce loves to eat at the restaurants!

The recipe is here:

Mexican Style Salsa
I’ve wondered many times as I have gone to Mexican restaurants through our area and I noticed that their salsa, for the most part, are very similar, yet the salsa that I get at the store doesn’t come even close in flavor or texture. Yes they have large chunks of vegetables and it should be good but it doesn’t even compare to the homestyle salsa of fresh tomatoes and peppers out of the garden, pico de gallo. The Mexican restaurant style is so good that by the time the food comes out I’m already full from the chips and salsa.
After looking up recipes I have come up with my own that works even when you can’t get the good fresh tomatoes, which is about 3/4 of the year.

Time: 10-15 min
Amount: Just over a quart
Ingredients:
1 - 28 oz cans diced tomatoes
1 - 10 oz cans Rotel (tomatoes and green chiles)
1 medium onion chopped
1 large jalapeño - adjust for your preference on heat.
handful of cilantro - washed
3 cloves garlic minced
1 tsp granulated garlic
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp onion powder
1.5 tsp salt (adjust for preference)
FOR EXTRA HEAT: 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp lime juice

Put all the ingredients in a blender and after about a 30 seconds, depending on your blender, you will have perfect restaurant style salsa. Refrigerate and serve.
