An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Is there anything more hopeful than the empty grave and the knowledge that we serve a risen Savior?! Amen! I’ve always loved this song and consider it a hymn, written by a wonderful musical couple: Bill and Gloria Gaither. The Gaithers have penned so many songs and alongside their Homecoming projects, their mark on Christian music will be long-standing.

On a few occasions I’ve been able to sing Because He Lives as part of a church service; for special music or various events. Most recently I was able to sing this song for my Grandma Johnson’s funeral in January of this year. It was a blessing to think of the lines “And then one day, I'll cross the river, I'll fight life's final war with pain” and know that my grandma has now seen those very things come to pass. Hallelujah. May we all choose to follow Jesus; accepting His sacrifice for us on the cross and believing that the grave where He was laid is now empty. He reigns in heaven and is preparing a place for us someday. Because He lives, we can live as well!
