Several years back as a worship leader just starting out, Paul Baloche was one of my main influences (still is). I consider him a “worship leader to worship leaders” and what I mean by that is this: Paul straight up has a heart to minister and teach those who lead on Sunday mornings. He influenced me in many ways: from instructional courses, to crafting songs and melodies, to even the guitar I play (McPherson all the way…I think he still plays one too!). His songs have left an indelible mark on the church over the last several years: Hosanna - Praise Is Rising, Open The Eyes Of My Heart, Our God Saves, The Same Love, Above All, Offering, and this favorite of mine, Your Name. As far as worship songs go, this song is simple yet magnificently crafted. And I know Paul would point the glory and praise back to the Lord. His humility and love for Jesus comes through in note after note. If you have not heard him live, I highly recommend it!
