Vet 1 diagnosed infection in the left hind leg. The owner came to Toa Payoh Vets to get the leg amputated.

The Syrian hamster has fractured his left tibial bone (below the knee) 5 days ago, based on palpation. X-ray to confirm is advised by Dr Daniel. The young couple enquired about amputation. The couple was given options- non-surgical and surgical amputation with complications of bleeding and death from anaesthesia.

The couple's decision was to give antibitoics and painkillers for the next few days and wait and see. It is best to get X-ray evidence of the closed fracture to support the diagnosis.
