Today, there are about 500 known species of mantis shrimp. This animal is one of the world's most impressive predators in the sea and even beat the Sharks to their game.

A mature animal weighs over 600 gm and measures between 40 and 42 cm long. They used to be found in more significant numbers, but today, that large association is rare due to their declining population. Pet trade and habitat loss are the greatest threats facing this animal.
