Hosea and Gomer - When others sin against us | Bible Study | Lie #1: God Punishes Us Series | Part 6

If we study what happened with the prophet Hosea and his wife, Gomer, we will better understand who God is and why He doesn’t punish us!

In the book of Hosea, God reveals to us how He feels when His people – the children of Israel at the time – sin. How they will suffer the consequences of their sin because He will punish them for it because it is unrepented sin. Meaning, God gave them many warnings to stop doing the wrong thing, but they did not stop, and now He is, once again, telling them what will happen if they continue to do the wrong thing.

God explains in detail what the children of Israel did wrong, the consequences of that, but also His Righteous Punishment for their sin. At this point, the children of Israel already had the Law of Moses, so they know God’s Commandments, and yet they kept ignoring them. But God keeps guiding them, encouraging them, and asking them to repent.

There is an ongoing theme throughout the Bible, where God keeps reminding the children of Israel that He is the one who saved them from the slavery of Egypt, and in the same way, we need to keep remembering that Jesus saves us from the slavery of sin. He makes us the Promise that if we abide in His Word, we will know the truth, and the truth will make us free.
