Mosaic Assembly video - ArtCase Restoration

Assembly of a large, bespoke mosaic, showing the cave art and drawings of the Altamira Caves in Cantabria.

The image is sketched out first on the base board and some colours added for guide and reference.

The stone tiles are cut and placed into the appropriate areas corresponding with the drawing.
Once I am happy with the shapes and the way the colors blend, I begin to glue the tiles to the board. This can take some time as each tile needs to fit perfectly with its neighbour.

When all glueing is complete, the mosaic needs time to settle and dry before moving on to the next step.
