Prayer is one thing most important to us as believers. In fact we begin our new birth by seeking Jesus Christ in prayer. From then on that new life within gives us a cry in our hearts for God. Even those who do not know Jesus Christ, when in a bad situation will receive the offer of prayer for themselves. However it is evident that after long life in this earth it has wear and tear on the spiritual life. Therefore affecting the ability to really pray. On the other hand, there are many that have never truly engaged God in prayer because they find Him impersonal. They feel that they are not worthy to ask God anything. They believe the lies that the enemy tells them, that discourage them from leaning into the soft heart of God their Father.

Many others approach God in a mechanical religious way. They stick within the guard rails of supposed offenses to Him. There are many other reasons why people have never met Christ in prayer. In the Word we read where God asks Moses to ask of Him from one end of heaven to the other of His great power, might and wonders. He asks Solomon to ask of Him what he wanted as the newly enthroned king over Israel. We see God asking Jeremiah to ask Him where the ancient good path is to find rest for the souls of God's people. Finally, Jesus tells all people to ask, seek and knock, giving us the details of how God will answer.

I fully believe the greatest blockage to prayer is fear. People are afraid to ask God anything. But when they do, they see only a one dimensional paper cut-out god that is indifferent, distant, and away on other business more important. Before they even begin to pray, the unpray their prayers. We are told that the greatest commandment is "to love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength." THAT in essence is HOW we should pray to Him.

And when you do, leave the consequences up to Him. He will answer in His own style, and in ways better than you could have thought. And in the timing that will reveal His majestic, articulate perfection. That is His way. God does not invite people to pray, to arise up and knock at His door, only to find Him never opening it, or slamming it in their faces, double bolting it on the other side. There is no "Be Back Later Sign." Ask Him from the purest place, from the depths of your heart. Because that is where the real prayer is found, and from there is where the prayer is engaged. Communion with Christ takes place and is where the answer will come. He will answer you because He said He would. You can rely on it.
