Stork is the name for birds from the family Ciconiidae. Large body, long legs, long neck but shorter than the Egret, and a large, strong and thick beak.

Storks can be found in warm climates. Habitat in drier areas than Egrets and Ibis. Food in the form of frogs, fish, insects, worms, small birds and small mammals from wetlands and beaches.

Storks do not have a syrinx sound organ so they do not make a sound. The half pitted against the partner is a way of communicating in place of the sound of a call.

Bird storks are migrants, flying far by levitating using hot air currents so as to save. The photo of a crane in flight by Ottomar Anschütz (1884) inspired Otto Lilienthal to create a glider that was used for gliders in the late 19th century.
