Since all feline play consists of mock violence, it's normal for kittens and young cats to participate in rough, active play. All in good fun, cats stalk, chase, sneak, pounce, swat, kick, slash, ambush, hack, and bite each other. It's mutual if they're playing. They regularly switch positions. In action, their ears are usually forward, and their claws are out but do not cause harm.
