A Dreamer's Dream

A dreamer's dream

This is the time I think of dreaming…
Careless and untied…
Free from all bounding
Living in the subconscious
Thinking I could fly
Think I could at least try

Not become the mask I put on
But the true self that I am
To be what I was to be
Not what I have become
This vicious circle is trapping me
Like the millions trapped

I close my eyes and dream another dream
Waking up to what you call reality practicality
and what I call “sodomy of dreams”
World won’t let me be
I won’t let myself be

I take a drink and fly to this another world
This has everything unexplored
I evolve to being the most beautiful
Mind not fearing the future
Not thinking about the past
Living the last day
Waiting for death at bay

But this careless dreaming
Brings a lot of ache and suffering
Lost in the one I could not be
Trying frantically to find me
The search ends and I see myself
In a deserted corner
Lit by nothing but my own wounds

All comes to an end
And I lie naked with my existence
Staring me in the face
I bow down and think
I should have been the careless dreamer
The dreamer who dared to dream
