Do not vote for Ritchie Bryant for RID president. He prefers skin color over skills.

Rough, very rough Transcript: As some of you know and some don't know or don't care but you should with this. RID elections are coming up. There are different candiates and I will be honest. I don't know any of them... EXCEPT one that I “heard of”. His name is Ritchie Bryant (RB) who identifies himself as a CDI. Last March 8th, on his PUBLIC wall, RB announced his eligibility for RID candiate as President of RID. NOW for those of you who are RID members but don't care. You should. Why?? RB does NOT NOT NOT have my support, even though I am not a member of RID, in his adventure to become RID president. Why? TO quote Nyle, about the WH conversary, “Imagine the damage [Ritchie] can do with the message in his hands.” Well, let me show you WHAT RB said about how he had no problems with the WH interpreter, saying “What Heather did for communication access, thumbs up.” “I have no complaints” He briefly discusses his concerns about her crossing the threshold(line) with her attire, saying “That's when the community responded.” Then he explains that the community, the black community, must feel that they can trust the person(Trustworthy) interpreting in the white house after experiencing 4 years of oppression. He continues by saying to the effect of, “We have to have a face that is representative of the current WH , that also reflects/represents the WH.” RB stresses that Heather's job was done perfectly as an interpreter. RB then adds a “BUT”and says “Her appearance is NOT match (compitable) with us, the black and brown, expectations of what a WH should LOOK LIKE. He goes on to say, “That's the whole basis of where they felt that Heather should look within herself, and unpack to realize that while she can interpret, but she should be aware of how she is perceived.” So in my opinion, RB is saying, that the reason RB does not want Heather there is because of her race. He talked about HER appearance in mattering for the WH. This is racism. SO imagine the damage RB can do if he becomes the president based on wanting to FILL spots that ANY qualified interpreters can do BASED ON THEIR COLOR OF THEIR SKINS. IS this what RID is all about? Imagine the damage a Deaf, Black CDI that holds to the position of “It doesn't matter how good you are, we will LOOK at your skin.” OF course during black events, or speakers- I do encourage POC- however the WH is supposed to be of any race and not discrimiate against anyone yet RB is saying to judge based NOT on skills but on SKIN. That does not sit well with me. IF RB want to make it a RACE issue, then let's look at stastitics to see if the numbers back RB up. I looked at the us census (2019) and it says white people are around 76% while blacks are close to 14%. That blows RB's comment that POC wants and the WH should follow their recommendations that the Interpreter ARE POC, regardless of their skills. SO is RB racist inside and anti-white? His actions in the future will help us see where he really stands. If I was a member, he would NOT get my vote at all. Will RB win because of his itergerity or because of a token Deaf POC or lose the election for RID president? We shall see...
