Lava from an Iceland Volcano Made Hikers to Evacuate the Area

Iceland Volcano Erupted on Monday 05th April 2021

Steam and Lava spurted Monday from a new fissure at an Iceland Volcano Reykjanes Peninsula in Southwestern Iceland, that began erupting last month , prompting the evacuation of hundred of hikers who had come to see the spectacle.

The Iceland Department of Emergency Management announced an immediate evacuation of the area.

The new fissure, first spotted by a sightseeing helicopter, was about 500 meters from the original eruption site in the Geldinga Valley.

It said there was no imminent danger to life due to the site`s distance from popular hiking paths.
