Can a Spinal Disc Really Slip

The short and sweet answer is NO a spinal disc can't slip because it is glued to the bone above and below so it can't slip and slide anywhere.
It can however
1. Bulge going from a circle shape to an oval shape
2. Herniate where is small piece bubbles out
3. Decay where enough water, nutrients, and oxygen leak out of it causing it to squish together
4. Tear like tearing a piece of cloth or a napkin
