Leadership Classics: John Ortberg & Ken Blanchard | EGO: Pride & Fear

When we edge God out, we begin to see a change in the way we serve others. We find ourselves plagued by either false pride or toxic fear. When false pride is present, we think more of ourselves than we should, pushing and shoving for our advancement and position.

When it’s toxic fear, we will think less of ourselves than we should and then we’re protecting ourselves. Even though egocentric leadership may get us what we want for a little while, we will eventually isolate people and we will never build community.
