Q: Hi Leeland, may I ask what your understanding of who the bride of Christ is as many believe it is the 'church' 'body of believers' but who are the wedding guests that attend which also go out & invite others to the marriage feast?
The bride would not be a guest at her own wedding? So with this in mind would it not be as the scriptures tell us, that it is in fact the new Jerusalem that comes down from Heaven is the bride?
Revelation 21:2;
I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:9-10;
Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven from God.
So if it is the new Jerusalem our inherited promised land that is the bride then we the church/ the believers must be the guests it would seem.
So if the Church was indeed the bride the Lamb's wife, would not the angel in Revelation 21:9-10 shown "the church," as the bride & not the Holy Jerusalem from Heaven?
Did Jesus actually teach that His body of believers are also his bride? I cannot find this teaching anywhere, also neither did Paul teach this as far as I am aware.
I'm sure you are aware that Christians are also very often called & referred to as "sons of God," The church throughout the New Testament does not seem to ever be called the bride of Christ.
Again we can read here who the bride/wife is;
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel...
Revelation 21:9-12
It clearly does not say the body of believers in Christ are the Lamb's wife, what it does clearly tell us is "that great city, the Holy Jerusalem" is indeed the Lamb's wife. It says that the apostle John saw that great city descending down from heaven adorned as a bride. He doesn't actually refer to it as the bride but that it is adorned as a bride.
Matthew 22:1-14;
'And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.'
As I said previously, how can the church who are guests also be considered as the bride? This doesn't make sense, would you agree?
I am not here to cause any upset what so ever but I only want seek out truth & reason with others who are of Christ's sheep.

A: All those at the Wedding Supper are the Bride of Christ. I encourage you to reference the Strong's concordance as it will eliminate some confusion.
Rev 19:7 for the marriage (gamos) of the Lamb is come, and his wife (gynē women) hath made herself (heautou himself) ready. 8 And to her (autos him) was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Many are confused by "guests" of the wedding supper but these are participants, the Bride, as the Greek word means "Sit at the table" g0345 ἀνακεῖμαι anakeimai; to recline at a meal: — guest, lean, lie, sit (down, at meat), at the table, be set down.
The Bride is the Mystery of the Ekklesia
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church (ekklēsia) is subject unto Christ, so let the wives (gynē) be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives (ekklēsia), even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church (ekklēsia), not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (144k).
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church (ekklēsia).
You'll the book of revelation uses the ekklēsia in Rev 1 through 3 but only once after in Rev 22:16 and the next verse says "the Spirit and the bride say, Come." So yes, the Ekklesia is the Bride, but what happened between Eph 5 , Rev 1-3 and the Wedding Supper?
Vashti was divorced because only 144k were without blemish, spot or wrinkle. So Esther is "prepared" and makes herself ready for the Wedding Supper. So the 144k are the firstfruit Bride and the great multitude washes their robes in preparation for the Wedding Supper.
Q: Brother, is it ok to ask you a question? I know there are lots of different crowns... If someone worshipping and standing before the throne, in this great assembly, was handed a golden crown, how would you understand that?
A: It's a requirement just like the wedding garment.

Antiq. under the word Coronation
