In Those Days Came John The Baptist

The Bible and History indicates that John The Baptist, the son of Zecharias and Elizabeth, was the authentic, proper heir to the office of High Priest. Zecharias and Elizabeth had no children. Rome had influence on the revolving door of Rome approved candidates for High Priest, but they did not have the authority given by God to safely observe what was expected of the High Priest, at the proper time and place. This is why John was so popular, so well known, and what he was preaching was from Isaiah and not from Torah, so he was drawing the crowds.
