Crawler Hauler - DIY Truck Camper Install on a Gooseneck Crawler Hauler

In this second installment of our Camper Crawler Hauler Series, we show you how we got a cabover truck camper on our 40' Gooseneck Car Trailer. We'll be towing this camper with 2 rock crawler Jeeps to off-roading excursions.

We've decided to start taking both of our rock crawling Jeeps four wheeling and needed a creative way of getting them from trail to trail. We also wanted a way to avoid hotels and extra, unneeded expenses. What we came up with is in this video. Our first trip was planned for Sand Hollow and Moab, Utah - which are a couple of states away.

We initially looked at campers that had sewer / water hook ups and tanks that were underneath the camper. We thought that we would have to cut a hole in our trailer to be able to access them. Luckily we stumbled across this camper that had accessibility to these items just below the bumper. Huge deal!

Update: We finished our Trek to Utah and everything went smoothly. We still need to build the storage areas which will help a lot. We didn't encounter any significant issues with the camper or the trailer itself. On a side note, when trying to make a reservation at an RV resort, I'm finding it very difficult to explain to people what exactly it is that we're pulling. Some places are flat out rude! haha

Also, it has proven to be a bit too much for our 2006 Duramax and are currently looking at new 2021 Chevrolet Duramax's 1 ton dually. They are rated to pull what we are pulling.(We've done the research and thought we'd need a 5500 - surprisingly they cannot tow as much as the 3500, think pay load.)
