Virtual Sendoff - B Company departs to support operations in Africa

Join senior military leaders, Maine's Congressional delegation, and Gov. Janet Mills for a virtual sendoff of B Company, 3rd Battalion 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain). As announced in 2019, the unit has been preparing for a 2021 deployment to Africa. The approximately 130 Soldiers of B Company are part of the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, a multi-state National Guard brigade headquartered in Vermont, which also includes smaller units in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Colorado. Soldiers from these states will support security operations in U.S. Central Command, U.S. European Command, and U.S. Africa Command. The unit is expected to be deployed for approximately one year.
