Part 4 – The First Letter of John, The Second & Third Letters of John
The first letter of John begins with Apostolic confirmation of Jesus Christ in the world. He continues with discussion around the walk in the light. For the path of Jesus Christ is to walk in the light. He discusses the conditions of walking in the light; to break with sin, to keep God’s commandments, to detach ourselves from the things of the world and to guard against the antichrists.

He continues with a discussion around living as God’s children. Outlining the same conditions as; to break with sin, to keep God’s commandments and to be on guard against antichrists and against the influence of the world.

He discusses the source of love and faith. He tells us to love one another and talks about the spirit of truth. He then shifts to prayers for sinners and talks about those who sin unto death.

The second letter of John begins with an address to the lady elect who it is believed is being addressed to a church and a congregation. He discusses the laws of love. John goes on to have a discussion around the enemies of Christ.

In the Third Letter of John he addresses another lady elect who it is believed is an additional church and congregation. He begins with a discussion about walking in love. Then warns of those who do not believe that Jesus came in the flesh. Those who keep with that belief are to be avoided. He warns do not open your door to them or you will be a partaker of their evil deeds.

While working on these letters from John I found new insight into the idea of antichrist. I have always considered only one as it related to Revelation and the mark of the beast prophecy. However, John brings a new light to that dark enemy. He attributes antichrist to anyone who walks in the darkness refusing to acknowledge that Jesus Christ came as flesh. Refusing to accept the lamb of sacrifice for our sins. It appears he also calls these those who commit the sin unto death, that sin which we cannot pray to save them from.
