Pheasant Backs
13
Pheasant backs were already part of a recent video, but here's another one. Look for them on dead hardwood trees, stumps, or downed limbs. They have a porous underside, and a pattern similar to pheasant feathers (hence the name). Also known as Dryad's Saddle or Hawk's Wing, there are no look-alikes. That being said, ALWAYS make sure you positively identify ANY mushroom before you eat it, and always cook it. These mushrooms didn't turn into much when cooked. I put them in the freezer and will pull them out months from now to see how they hold up.
