One may feel isolated and alone. But God has not intended that for your life. And it need not be so. As Jonah's mission allowed a foreign king to restore Israel after Israel had forgotten her path, and God reminded her, so too, the mission of Jesus portends salvation from Christ's sacrifice. Jesus said his mission and Jonah's had similarities.

Isaiah, reputed to Isaiah Ben Amos of the 8th century, but thought to be more than a few writers, is often called the fifth Gospel. It is lyrical and words of Isaiah are found in the libretto of Handel's Messiah, and expressions such as 'Swords into plough shares' and 'Voice in the wilderness.' This part of Isaiah is undisputed to the 8th century prophet. It is part of a prayer of thanks to God, before a declaration of having been saved.

The dating of the writing is crucial. The temple would fall, but Israel would be saved through the faith of a foreign king. The writing was something that survived the fall of Israel. Was it changed during the time in captivity or later? The mission of Jonah is related to the salvation of Israel. The issue of prophecy predating events is a problem for academics.
