Its cave-like structure and its close proximity to the Athenian Agora must have led to the popular tradition that the building was the "Prison of Socrates".
Some researchers have claimed that the real prison was in the Ancient Agora.
Whatever the case, our visit to this site sparked some interest in the girls to know more about Socrates.
