Woodpecker and the power of its strikes

Studies have shown that the woodpecker beats in trees a distance of up to seven meters per second, and it is similar to a person hitting his head against a wall at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour, and this is what this bird does about 20 times per second sometimes. That is equal to 12 thousand clicks per day. This work required that this bird be hit by a crack in the skull or to fall from the tree, but a complex network of mechanisms prevents this from happening, according to scientists from China and Hong Kong in the American magazine "Plus One" in its recent electronic issue.
