Ballooning over the Valley of the Kings is something you have to rise EXTREMELY early for. Due to a deadly accident because of variable winds, ballooning is only authorized by Egypt's civil aviation authority when the wind conditions are placid; before sunrise. There are no "sunset" balloon rides. Although you have to get up early for the experience, it's well worth it. If in Luxor, ensure the balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings is on your itinerary!
